Films. The movies of my life

I like cinema too much. My options are go to cinema with good prices or pay for “pirates” DVDs. I like films with good guidelines, good photography and direction. The genders that I like are very diferents history, drama, horror, science, comedy. The most important for me is the guidelines.
My favourite directors are Stanley Kubric, also Tarantino, Coppola (father and daughter), and others. The last film that I saw is “Hotel Budapest”.

The best film that I saw is “Her”. Is there an interesant history about writer that install a intelligent operative system. The worst film I saw is the last of “Kramer”.

The film I would like see again is Groundhog Day, also known in Chile as Groundhog Day or Spell of Time is a romantic comedy released in 1993, with performances by Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell directed by Harold Ramis. The film is brillant. Bill Murray 's character is an arrogant, frustrated in their ambitions and bored with his job as a meteorologist at a TV station that is sent to a small town to do a news story about predicting the end of winter. In this isolated town, there is a ritual in which Groundhog show about how much or not that remains of winter, according to their behavior outside his "house". Phil (Bill Murray) is accompanied in this task with two people: Rita ( she is an attractive woman, and editor) and a cameraman (an "loser" :) ). Following completion of the mission do reporting ritual. They are decided to return to town for the news, but a sudden snowstorm forces them to stay in the village  The next morning , the clock strikes 6 am, time to get up, but after a while Phil notice something strange happening. Everything repeats like yesterday !, the same actions, the same situations. The film is playing with the time and the humans reactions.

My favourite piece of technology with many electronic windows

I am usually in my computer, is there many windows opens, little notes of newspapers, mails –sometimes one or two in use-, social pages -Facebook, Twitter, Instagram- and many documents of Word software and beetween all this also music archives playing how permanent sounds of accompaniment. It is how a little Aleph of Borges.

The last week I am thinking about of PNUD document called:NewTechnologies: a leap into the future? In 2006 the document asked “how new information and communication technologies (NICTs) have become a natural part of the scene where their day-to-day activities unfold”.

The document of PNUD said with Data: “the deep inroads of NICTs in the life of Chileans…(…).. the number of computers multiplied 27-fold, and, in the case of Internet – non-existent in 1989- users increased from 250 thousand in 1997 to almost 4.8 million by late 2004”.

Without computers my style of communications may be more slow. This technology is very important for easy  and effective transmission of informations, for example if I need know:  ¿what activities is programed today and tomorrow in my city?. ¿What film is in exhibition in cinema today?, What happens in the cultural center Gam?. What are thinking,  how and where are my friends? What plans for this weekends?. Also may be that without technology my life may be more quiet.

My expectations for this semester

In this term I am reading the classics of sociology and classic topics of interest: Modernity, social integration, diferentiation, rationality, emancipation, subjetivity, social actors, agency, freedom, social structure, etc. I am also studying topics of methodology and epistemology. So my expectations are likely to have a good term with good learning.

My extracurriculars activities are more limited. Good conversations, good lunch, many smiles. But I am also working in academics circles, I am participating in two projects: a group of study about Mental health and Work, all wednesday at seven O’clock, from psychoanalysis perspective and too other study group called Core (núcleo) of Public Opinion Observatory with meetings each fifteen days. This project is very important for me. These activities help me to think about social problems in Chile and elsewhere, Latinamerica, North america and Europa.

The long and winding road

I was born in Santiago of Chile, in a place called San Bernardo. This is 20 km from downtown. San Bernardo is like a little town, and many years ago this area of Chile was “the countryside”. Today, Is there main streets with a many traditional little canals for the water circulation from rains (acequias, In english: waterways?) and you can see, in some spaces, bigs and olds houses (casas patronales), they are very representative from the style of life and economy that one or two hundred years ago. This style of life is called “hacienda model”. Today, many people say “I go to Santiago’ or ‘I went to Santiago”. This distance is important, when I studied at the University I was many hours of my life, in the peak hours, on public transport!.

I studied in A-127 high school. After, I studied in three universities, Engineering in Geography at the Universidad de Santiago (by vocation), Auditor Account at the Universidad Católica Blas Cañas (by money), Sociology and Master in Philosophy at the Universidad de Chile (by knowledge). May be you can think that this is a ‘vocational disorder’ :), but I think that all have a sense. For me, the university and knowledge is very practical for what I'm looking at some point. I believe in the interdisciplinary perspective too and the renacentist style of knowledge. Whatever.

I am the last 8 siblings (yes, 8!), that means I'm often uncle and great uncle. My parents live in San Bernardo.

In the last time, I knew the importance of some television series. I don’t knew that they are a good hobbies for me. I liked!. In the last summer I saw “House of Cards” (all the chapters), “ Breaking Bad” (I reached the third season) and “How i met your Mother” (second season). I like riding a Bike, the classic rock music (Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Deep Purple), the latino american music and the dance (free style). I like too the television serie: “In treatment” is about of work and life of a psychiatrist, Paul Weston (Gabriel Byrne).
